I was dumb and put a blood parrot from petco in my 90g with my flowerhorn and convict and now they both have ick and the base of their fins are red.

I have gotten rid of the BP but I know the damage is already done. The convict literally has his entire body covered in ick and the flower horn only has a couple spots on him.

I have done aquarium salk treatment with daily water changes and two days ago used jungle labs ick away (one full dosage) and there seems to be no progression. I even ordered a new heater because my current one cannot seem to get to 84 degrees.

Anyone have anymore suggestions or tips on how to cure this? Please help!!:WHOA:

How did you dose salt? Keep salt only and no more other meds.

I did 1 tbl spoon for every ten gallon so 9 tbl. I was also told to do daily water changes to try to get the ich out

Tablespoon? So three teaspoons every 10g...That's not enough. The dosage should have gone this way to quickly kill off the free swimming parasites.

1. A teaspoon per gallon.
2. Repeat in 12 hours.
3. Repeat in next 12 hours.

A total of three teaspoons per gallon will be lethal enough. Your current dosage risks creating salt-resistant strains of ich. Dissolve the salt before adding to tank.

Ok. Thanks. Will try now. Is it too soon if I usef ich away 2 days ago? Like will there be side effects?

I prefer to use other meds only if the ich is found to be salt-resistant. These chemicals are way too harsh for fish in general.

By the way, salt doesn't mix with formalin-based meds.

Thanks alot for the help. How long should it take for me to know I'd it worked

A week. Continue treatment for another 10 days after the last ich was spotted.

Should I be doing daily water changes as well?

Yes especially if your water parameters demand that you do. Don't forget to redose salt.
