I have been back into the LFS several times since I got my green severum that came down with the ich. I know that there was only one severum left in the store after I purchased mine. So today he gets in an order of fish and I go in to look at what he has gotten. I walk over to the tank where I got my severum from and there are now three severum in the tank and two have ich as bad as mine does. I had told the owner about mine coming down with it just two days after I purchased it. So now he has three severum in this tank with ich. Then I got to looking at his oscars that he got in today and pointed out that several of them have ich also. I know the tank that they were in had no fish in it until today. He cleaned it and cycled it for the oscars. He used salt to clean the tank. He was pretty upset because he said that he had examined the fish when he got them in and they werent showing any signs of ich at that time. He said that the severums that he got in today didnt have ich when he put them in their tank either. So how are these fish breaking out with this stuff from tip to tail so fast?

I'm sure they came from the breeder with it. Problem is it's on the gills when they come in and really almost impossible to find. Three to Five days later the Ich cycle is totally visible and everything in the tank is hit. Even worse if using a central filtration system without UV or something else to keep it from getting in to everything.

Had a long talk with the local African Cichlid breeder about it recently.

Quarantine, quarantine, quarantine! I just finished learning the hard way.
