My severum started showing signs of what I thought is Ich sunday. Noticed 4 small white dots. The only thing that was weird is that they didn't look like the typical grains of salt. They looks almost gel like balls. Not cottony looking though. I did some research and could not come up with any results that matched what I thought I was looking at so I started treating for Ich. Raised the temp from the normal 78 degrees to 86.5 over the next 2 days. Also dosed the tank with super ich cure. Ive used it before and had success. Never tried the salt method due to not being sure if all my fish could handle it. I noticed yesterday more white dots on the same side of the fish. They are only on one side. I know that with Ich appears to get worse before it gets better. Today the dots are still there. Don't seem to be any more than yesterday. However today they look like they are branching out? Almost like a spreading fungus...? I can only see this "spreading" look when I look down side of his body(as you would look down the side of your car for dings.) He is still eating fine. He does seem to be gasping a little. Which I assume is partly due to the temp raising. I did pull the exit tubes for both canister filters to the surface to disturb the surface more to oxygenate the water more. The other fish dont seem to be gasping quickly like he is. Not ammonia or nitrite. Less than 10 ppm on the nitrates. So my question is, Does this look like Ich? If not, any ideas? The "spreading" look makes me question Ich. This fish Is my buddy, I have him trained to gently take food from my hand. Please help.
