Ok So here is the deal. I have two tanks, a 180 gallon that has been up for around 6 to 7 years and a 50 that has been up for less than a month. So when setting up the 50 I took water and decorations, etc... from the 180 and added it to the 50 to get it cyclying. Then I added some new fish to the 50 to get it cycling as well as a few new fish to my 180 (which I didn't put into a qt tank because well i haven't bought new fish in a while and forgot my bad) anyways long story short both tanks ended up getting ich. I treated the 50 for 5 days with maracide and it seemed to work however after a few days after i stopped treating it is slowly coming back on a few fish. So what I am going to do is do a 40 or so % water change to try and get as much of the meds out as possible and do another 5 day treatment, so my question is this the right course? Now as for my 180, which I am more worried about as I said I added a few more fish and my new Jack Dempsey has some white specks on its pectoral fins, and specks have also showed up on my albino convict cichlids, and my red tailed shark. Now I couldn't tell you if they were there before I added the new fish or not, except on the RTS which I know the dot is new. So because I wasn't sure if it was ich I added a treatment of coopersafe however nothing has happened in a week to the dots, so my plan was to do a water change tomorrow and add the new water with the proper does of coopersafe, does this sound ok? Finally, to compound things I found out after I added most of my fish that both my tanks have high nitrates (the 50 probably has them because I took water out of the 180) anyways so I have been trying to balance the treatment for that and the ich. I know part of it is the new filter media in both tanks because with just one water change in the last week the nitrates have gone down, so I just wanted to let you know this in conjunction with my other questions.

Thanks

I effed up the last time I tried any meds. My advice is 86 degree water, proper dosage of salt, and lights off. Always clears up for me in 4-5 days but I treat for 14.
