Hey guys, today i noticed that a few of my fish have some small white spots on them. I think it may be ich?
Just wondering if anyone knows what could have caused it as my water conditions are good and i havnt added any knew fish to the tank in over a 2 weeks. Ive currently got a 250ltr tank with a 3" oscar, 2"tandanus catfish, 2"firemouth, 2"geophagus surinamensis, 2 convicts about 1", 2 clown loaches about 1.5" & a black ghost knife 2". Im currently running an eheim 2217 and a fluval 305 for filtration. Any help would be appreciated :)

Did you quarantine your last addition?
It could have been carrying 1 or 2 ich parasites that needed 2 weeks or more to develop into a serious disease.
A quarantine of at least a month is not out of line for any new addition.
Add salt until the salinity reaches over 3ppt (parts per thousand) or get an OTC medication, a prepare to treat for at least 2 weeks.

Nah i didnt quarantine the oscar and clown loaches as i only have the 1 tank. Thanks for the help.

need pics please.

Ya clown loaches are very susestible to ich so as jordanroda jordanroda said, it came from them.

Keeping fish as a hobby basically comes with getting ich. Up the temp to 86-90 degrees F depending on what you normally keep at and add salt and youll be fine.

This is why I never keep ClownLoaches...I gave up 30 years ago, Jordy has no luck with them...:(

Aw, I've thought about keeping CL also. I'll say this though, I'll take Ich over any other ailments, I've ALWAYS beaten ich really quickly.

Got some of this stuff today from the lfs and ive upped the temperature to around 30degrees c so hopefully it should clear up in a couple days :)

Really! My loaches really hardy fish and never has ich, the only issue I'm facing is my monster wouldn't leave them alone...they get eaten when they grow to decent size around 5~6 inches lol
