I'm house sitting for my dad and, of course, he has ich. These are pond goldfish that live outside half the year and come in when it gets cold as hell. I've dealt with ich in my tropical tank before (damn you, feeder fish!) and I found the best treatment was salt and heat. Obviously that isn't an option in a tank that sits at about 68F (~19C)

I realize that at these temperatures the ich lifecycle will be looong as hell. I wonder what I can do here?

Very true on the life cycle, what I'd do is still increase the temperature; but not to the extent of tropical fish (30 degrees), I'd be tempted to SLOWLY bring temperature up to around 24 degrees, this will speed up the life cycle but not stress your goldfish out too much, since it's only temporary

I agree with convict, and also go grab a bottle of paraguard and treat the tank for 10 days. stuff is easy on all fish, and is hell on ich. Its all I'll use.
