Last week I made the mistake of bringing home fish from the petstore and not quarantining the newcomers like I have been doing for years. It's a very irresponsible and unthoughtful thing to do and I have learned my lesson.
I bought three corydoras and introduced them after acclimation. As soon as I dropped them in my Severum went feeding mode and tried sucking one of them up, I scared him and he spit it out. He did it again 20 minutes later and I scared him he spit it out again. I removed the cories to a ten gallon tank( which I should've done in the first place) then my Severum the next day is covered in ich. So I start treatments on both his tank and the cories. Upped the temps but my heater wouldn't get passed 82f so I bought a new heater ( fluval m300 for a 55 gallon) and still no rise above 82 even 24 hours later and the heater being set to 86f. Now my severum seems to have some stomach bloating and it seems he has internal bleeding.
My treatments consist of daily 30% water changes and adding a half of a teaspoon for every ten gallons and I'm using Fishkeeper(an immune booster probiotic supplement for fw) and I'm feeding Spirulina flakes/ veggie flakes and Spirulina brine shimp. I've been treating since last Thursday. Frustration and I only have myself to blame. Suggestions? Scoldings?
