My pike mysteriously died the other day (first fish I've lost since I set up the tank 8 months ago) couldn't see any major damage on him, was eating well, water was fine etc.

Now I've noticed my ctenopoma is developing lots of white spots and seems to be acting irritated. Will attack pictures soon.

Raised the tank temp to 30'c, turned off both lights and ordered some aquarium salt, I just had a couple questions.

1.How much salt do I need to add to my 180 gallon and for roughly how long to clear the ich/velvet?

2.Been struggling to workout if the salt or any other treatment will negative effect my BGK or Black spotted eel?

3.If it is the dreaded velvet should I medicate with something other than salt?

The salt needed is 3 tsp per g. This amount needs to be maintained in the tank while treating. It can effect those fish but the best way is to slowly add the salt to the tank in portions. Dumping all that salt at one time will irritate sensitive fish. If it’s velevet then copper is needed and a copper tester is needed to make sure u have proper levels. Post some pics of the fish.

Cheers for that, this is the ctenopoma the white dots are minuscule but I've never noticed them on him before then with the pike dying I am worried.

Also set a quarantine tank up with established media should I move him into that? Or has the damage already have been done in terms of passing it on the other fish?

I’d treat in the same tank. Doesn’t look like velvet in the pics.
