HI
sorry if this was asked before i tried to search. some one told me that once ich is in ur tank it can always flare up, is this true? my 55g comm tank always has outbreaks that are controlled easily enough, but they happen randomly, not when any new fish were added. i can always cure them with heater, salt and sometimes medication but i gets stressful. is it just the fish ( clown loaches.) i was also thinking it might be from the day to night temp. fluctuations. my real question is can i get rid of it for good? leave the heater on always?

Ich oftenly appears caused by stress.

Infected fishes that survived get physically resistant by their trained immune system, but stress lowers the immune response and Ich gets back on top.

The best thing is to break the lifecycle, Ich won´t survive without any host, so quarantining the tank for some days would do great.

Try to separate the uninfected fishes (as far as obvious) from the infected tank...

..that´s all you can do, I think.
