Title says it all, two of my little Pbass have ich, and I'm leaving tomorrow morning for 6 days of northern wisconsin fishing. [And driftwood hunting!]

I posted a thread 2 days ago about my brother watching the tank and I left him directions on what to do. I have dosed the salt, cranked the temp to 86, and playing the waiting game. I'm not using any meds or copper crap. I have a HOB filter trickling in and a 5" disc airstone in the back corner.

What's the success rate of beating ich? One of them has quite a few spots on his dorsal fin and back. They're in my 20 gallon long.

Thanks again guys. I appreciate all the answers I always get!

Sounds like you are doing everyting right. Keep them salted for at least a week, 2 would be better but you wanna make sure that you keep the salt in to kill the free floaters. I'd leave instructions for your brother and keep your fingers crossed. How did they get ick? Did you use feeders? Or they came that way? Hope it all works out for you. Make sure the tank is well aerated, warmer water holds less oxygen.

I got them from John the vendor on here so I imagine Florida to Illinois in a box could have stressed them out. No feeders either. And the water was fine before I put them in. Oh well, I'm really doing all I can.

Just raise the temp to 86 - 88 degrees they will be fine at that temp. I had the same problem several months ago and that is what I did and it cleared it up and i did not lose any fish.

I usually beat ich in 3 days.. lol..I raise the temp to 89(a little higher than normal but it gets the job done).. Then I add a little over a tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons.

Sounds good guys. I have both my heaters on 86 and right about 1 tsp per gallon. I have a RTC in there with the pbass too. Hopefully I'll get updates from my brother.

Headed up to Northern Wisconsin on Friday for some fishing - let me know how you do and hopefully the Ich will be gone by the time you get back home!
