What is the best way to treat a catfish for Ich. My small Tigrinus was exposed to some Red Hook Silver Dollars that I believe MAY have had early stages of Ich. They had a few small white raised dots on their fins and bodies. They were immediately removed from the tank containing the Tig. The Tig doesn't show any signs of it or any spots at all that I can see, but I want to be ready of he does!! What is the best treatment for a Tig if he should develop these spots? From now on the Tig will live alone, I'm not risking it again!!

Mine had ich from datnoids that i recently bought.. Thats why i get for not doing Q's.
Just bump up the temp to 86 above and use salt..1 tablespoon per gallone ( for rocksalt). It should go away in 4-5 days.

If not, try using rid-ich . Its a good brand that works well with scaless fish. OBSERVE CAREFULLY after using to see if there are any stress related from the medication .Should the tig act up, move to another tank immediately.

i would only use half dose of rid-ich on scaless fishes

Ive had reliable reports of it being used succesfully on tigrinus and catfish.
I would recommend the salt treatment first. And if youre really uncomfortable, then use half the dose.

I will watch him like a hawk for signs/symptoms. I'm still not sure the Silver Dollars had Ich but it looked like the early stages to me??? (I've never had an outbreak of anything before so I have never seen Ich in person) I sure am kicking myself in the *** for not just keeping him as a solitary fish in the 180. He's only 5" but man do I think the world of this Tig!!

Start the treatment asap . I would recommend salt and bumped up temps first.
Ich is fairly easy to get rid of. Theyre wonderful cats arent they?
