Will the heat trick for Ich work on a Marine aquarium as well? I've had several fish die of Ich 2 weeks ago, but afraid to add any new fish because the ich cycle is probably still going. I have a few corals (Leather, Torch and small brain and couple of mushrooms), will the heat (86 - 87 degrees) kill them? Also, have a UV (new, 2 months old running 50 gpm) for past 2 months. Treated with Ich-x...yadda yadda. Can't stand to lose another fish.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Thomas,

I split and moved your post here so you'll get quicker responses here from the marine enthusiasts. Good luck.

Wow dude...your tank is cooking! I would get that fixed...it is probably stressing your fish, hence the ich.

A lot of hobbyists believe that ich exists in all systems, its just having the fish be stressed enough, or a bad enough diet, or poor enough water quality to bring it out.

Some solutions would be:

Lowering your water temp.

Lowering your salinity 1.020-1.022

Checking your water parameters and doing an h2o change

Improving the diet of your fish.

Marine ich is a war sometimes. Lost a whole tank last summer due to not quarantining. Sucks. What worked for me was an empty tank, no fish. Ich can't reproduce without a host. That was a long 3 months.

Guys, h2o quality, and proper nutrition.

Dont stress your fish...ick really isnt a big issue if you follow some simple precautions...namely the ones I have listed above.

QT is great...but it doesnt mean you can slack on husbandry.
