ok picked up some plecs, feeders, two female convicts pink and black, also a knife about a week ago. i see little white spots on the black convict and on some of the feeders! ive never dealt with any issues of disease so please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you quarantine all your new fish? You need to raise temperature to 86 degrees Fahrenheit and add salt at a tablespoon per 5g slowly. Do treatment for 14 days.

i bought a med from lfs nox-ich. i just added it to my 100 and 55. i just noticed the plec in the 55 was dead. i didnt quarantine any of them. ive asked the ? of many people and different answers or preference, but now im not liking this feeling worrying about all my fish for some cheap ass fish!!!!

Pleco's are scaleless fish and dont deal well with salt or meds, did you remove the carbon from your filter before dosing the tank?

Next time, you should quarantine your fish for at least a month before introducing them to any of your main tanks. Ich is a PITA to deal with as well as any other health issues. Treat with salt and heat. Get a spare tank for quarantine if you haven't yet but don't move any of your fish around, just treat them where they are.

By the way, dissolve salt first before you add. Some bottom dwellers suffer burns from salt as they tread around the substrate which is why dissolving is very important.

yes i removed to little bit that i have running through the hob's. so what is the procedure? i read the directions and was wondering if they mean add the 1drop per gal for 3days, or add once and remove after three days? also, in both tanks i have catfish and plecs. what is the proper way to remove the meds? im due for my canister service, so do this after treatments?

I have tried both ways, heat salt, and meds. The meds I use are given every three days with a 50 % water change 24 hours after each dose. Thats the way the myacin green is supposed to be used. Carry on the treatment for 9 days even if there are no signs of ich. Atleast thats what the directions to the product i use say.

so what is the process of removal? also i forgot, i have three crayfish i the 100, any problem for them?

Ich will not affect them. If you do plan to use meds, then you can remove the crayfish just to be safe although they will be fine unless you want to use copper-based meds which is fatal to all inverts and more damaging than they are worth.

IMO, meds are a last resort if all else fails. Try salt first before you step up on meds. Simply dissolve and add slowly. It shouldn't pose too much problem.
