So i just read the ich thread and ive been doing the doses of salt every 12 hours. but i just have a couple questions. Should i be doing water changes before the new dose? It just seems like alot of salt to be in there since the salt does not end up evaporating. Also it say that u have to do the treatment for 7-10 days. Does that mean that every 12 hours in the 7-10 days do the dose?

For basic procedures, here are the steps.
1. Dose one teaspoon per gallon of salt or equivalent to 0.1%.
2. After 12 hours and assuming the fish has tolerated it very wellso far, repeat step 1.
3. After another 12 hours, repeat step 1 again.

What it's saying is add the salt if tolerated 3 times in a 36 hour period. So if you had a ten gallon aquarium you would end up with 30 teaspoons of salt in the tank at the end of the 36 hours. Then let the fish stay in that concentration of salt for 7 to 10 days. If you do a water change replace the salt, so in the ten gallon example tank if you replace 5gals of water add 15 teaspoons of salt to maintane the current concentration.

Yes, after the 7 -10 days you could do a 50% water change and go back to your normal water change maintance schedule.

For now just stick with the salt it's safe and effective 99.9% of the time. Follow the instructrions and your fish should be fine.
