Over the last week I lost two clowns to ICK, I treated the tank with the meds ICK attack and the clowns seemed to be getting better and then all the sudden they died. Also in the evening and before I turned off the lights the clowns looked great and were very energetic and eating and happy. But in the morning when I turned the lights on they always seemed to look alot worse with the ICK and also they were more discolored. Is that normal? Also I have a scooter blenny which was completely unaffected by the ICK and he is doing great!-- Any current suggestions for my tank or is there anyway I could check to see if the ICK is gone? How long do you think I should wait before getting a new fish? Also my water parameters all look good!

copper meds on clownfish is kind of a rough treatment. IMO copper should be the last resort. What needs to be done is:

1) remove the fish from the display tank (dt) and place them in a hospital tank (qt)
2) reduce the salinity from there normal too 1.009-1.012 over the course of 1 week. this is called a hypo salinity treatment. Much less stressful for fish. it kills the parasite and also reduces the energy needed for fish to excrete electrolytes and other necessities from the salt water because of the lower salinity.
3) let the DT run fallow (without fish) because this removes the host. The parasite irritans lives in 3 stages. running the tank with out fish for a duration of 4-6 weeks guarentees that the parasite is dead in all three stages. during this time the fish in QT can gain strength and get rid of the parasite themselves.
