i just had a sudden break out of ick in my 130 gal. Almost all my fish have it. Ive been treating it with maracide for the past 3 days. and it doesnt seem to be working at all. Does anyone know of a really good ick treatment medication?

Search for the ich tread from guppy.

I would stop using the med, do a 50% water change , put the carbon back in your filters and add 1 cup+ of salt for every 30 gal of water..... I would add 5 CUPS of salt for a 130gal.

The temp sounds fine but remember with higher temps come less oxygen so you want the filters running 100%

I don't know what kind of salt your using but that sounds like enough salt to make a dip with. I use one to one and a half cups for the 130 gallon, but maybe you should just follow the directions on the container you get since we both use totally different amounts.

I have used this concentration many times and it is fine. I use regular aquarium salt.

Run a search for the thread from Guppy and I. He covers Fresh, and Mine is salt. They are posted as sticky's (Mine is under his name as it needed to be in order to be a sticky). This comes up a lot which is why we decided to do in-depth threads on them. They, along with all the comments from other's experiences should answer most of your questions. If not, let us know!

Thanks guys. Im gonna give the salt method a shot and hopefully that will do the trick.
Right now i have a orange pike, GT, Parrot, Acara, Bahia Red Geophagus, Distachodus Affini, Leporinus, and then a few silver dollars, couple different types of plecos, and a group of clown loaches. I lost both pictus and a loach so far.

Start micron filtration with your Marineland Magnum if you have this. You have to remove the free swimming swarmers before they attach to fish. Raise the temp to about 85 and get some Coppersafe in there. You will have to determine if any scaleless fishes can tolerate this. If not put them in a separate tank and use a different medicine. Jungle makes Parasite clear that may work. Increase aeration in your tank and follow the dosing schedule for the Coppersafe. Good luck. I have treated African cichlids with the copper with no problems.
