you still treat the whole tank as they are all exposed
:iagree: Salt and heat will do wonders. Just remember to dissolve first and add slowly to avoid osmotic shock that is fatal to fish.

I just noticed some ick yesterday, did a 50% water change and vacuumed all the gravel, put in 1 tbsp aquarium salt per 5 gal, and set the heat to 85 deg.

Did I miss anything? Should I add more salt tomorrow? I have a small pleco in the tank and don't want to over do the salt.

I think you'll be okay. If nothing changes after a maybe a week repeat the process.

You're on right track. If you've added enough salt by a tablespoon per 5g already, leave it. Add salt only if you do a water change as water changes do remove salts so the effect would be negated thus treatment would be useless. Did you dissolve the salt when you added it? If so, your bottom dwellers should be fine. Do expect your situation to worsen in the middle of treatment course with more protozoans on sight but it will naturally happen. Don't freak out, be patient and be cool.;)

Took out a liter of tank water and made a salt martini, 007 style... "shaken not stirred". Poured it in over the course of about 2 hours.

My fish are all polka dotted but otherwise acting normally. Maybe a little more hungry from the water temp rise.

Yes, warm temperature increases metabolism thus they are more than likely to be very hungry. You're on right track so far.:)
