Good Morning,
I have a 75 gallon with 20 gallon sump, a fx5 with factory rec. media, 2 aqueon wavemakers, lots of driftwood and various species of aquatic flora.
it's a central and south american tank with...
1 oscar 6"
2 firemouths 1.5"
2 green sevs 2"
1 convict 2.5"
1 gold ram 2.5"
2 pictus cats 3.5"
1 pleco 4"
2 crayfish
1 colombian shark 2.5"
and 2 red-clawwed fiddlers. one escaped this morning. hahaha
no ammonia, no nitrite, and my nitrate is around 20ppm. and the tank has been running since january 16th of this year.
This will have been the 3rd time I have witnessed physical "ICK" like symptoms.
I treated once with salt 3 months ago, another time ehh like 1.5 months ago, and then there was this past week which i'm still in the middle of.
I prefer the temp and salt method since it has worked in the past I will continue with the process 7 days after the white spots have disappeared.
First go around it was my oscar, second time it was my oscar and a newer sev, and now it is the same oscar and the same sev.
The bizarre thing is that as soon as i start raising the temp (to around 85 normally) the lifecycle of the ick kicks into overdrive. They would get larger then fall off, but in this instance they have stayed the same size for over a week now which does not make any sense.
I have yet to lose a fish to this parasite in my experience through the salt and temp method, but maybe i should try something else?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
INB4 overstocked, your oscar will nom everything. etc...
Thanks,
-Brad
