Ick Question...How long are fish contagious after white spots are gone?

Just wanted to know how long fish are contagious after the white spots of ick are gone?????

The entire tank can be infected even if none of the fish show spots (assuming you can see all the spots.) Ich has 3 forms and 2 are not while attached to the fish.

At 86-87 F with a low level of salt in the water, all of the parasites should be gone in every possible form within nearly a week. It's safer to run the tank that way for a little longer to be certain since ich is quite lethal.

Ok I'll do one more week of treatment than I'll do a big water change and than start with the salt and high heat cause I wasn't sure how it would mix with the medicine I'm using... But thanks for the info

I wouldn't mix ich medicine with high heat and salt treatment.

Yea... That's why I said I'd do a big water change like 70% and then do salt and heat... But thanks for reassuring that meds and salt don't mix

Oh... I've been doing Heat, Stop Parasite, and Salt for my current spell of Ick... I'm at day 5 and its about 90% cleared.
