Just got a snakehead and discovered its got ick. I've looked up the treatment for ick and it says to add a tablespoon of salt per gallon of water, but i also read that i SHOULDN"T put salt in tanks with snakeheads. What should i do?

I have never been fortunate enough to keep a snakehead but as with other salt sensitive fish maybe you shoulb get a bottle of one of the many anti ich meds such as Rid Ich, just be sure that it won't damage any inverts that you might have.

But i also read some where else on the internet that i should put some salt in an aquarium with Snakeheads in it. ARGHHH Contradicting information

omg

i think its impossable for my sh to get ich

his skin is so thick

Put the salt in.....slow maybe, but I've put plenty of it in when I was keeping one. I didn't have an extra tank most of the time for a sick tank so I salted and raised temp if one got ick....the rest will deal fine and prevent them from getting it anyways. I didn't think the SH was that sensitive.

I just read on SH.org that they do well in water with low salinity. But oh well i'll give it a shot. The dosage is one tablespoon to every 5 gallons is it?

Most people use 2 teaspoons per gallon U.S., I think it works out to 0.05% salinity. If you haven't done this before remember to raise the tank temp. to around 85 f. and keep treating for at least five days. Some people add the salt 1/4 at a time every 4 hours until it is all in. I just add it all at once but I do dissolve it first in warm water so that it blends quicker.
