ok so i treated my native tank (mottled sculpin) for ick about....ooohh 7-8 days ago now

every thing cleared up with in a 3-4 days, i did about 5 gallon water change two days ago (on a 25 gallon) with out adding more salt.
tank temp was raised to about 75..that was as high as i dared go.

I followed the instructions for salt and Ick here, Question is when can i start lowering the Senility, My Anubis plants are doing fine but it decimated my forgbit and water lettuce ..good think my guppy tank is about over flowing,

anyway i want to go collecting soon and find something to fill the open space in the tank....though i might have to buy something that will stay smaller.

how long should i wait untill i can remove the salt?
there is no sigh of Ick on anyone in the tank

bump
..anything?

Keep the salt steady for two weeks. You have to expect some plants to wither as they are intolerant of salt. I would remove them, rinse them in potassium permanganate and house them in a fishless tub for a few weeks.

you could do a salt water dip, take the infected fish out. take a 5 gallon bucket, fill it with water from your tank, add a double dosage of salt and put the fish in there for about 30 minutes or until it shows signs of stress. Do this until the ick seems to clear up.

I disagree with that method. Ich itself would have already established in the tank making that method moot.

sorry if this is a thread hijack, but it might help the OP

from sticky: "The cyst then ruptures, thus releasing the theronts which seek out a host to feed into. They must locate a host within 24 hours otherwise they will die. Only the mobile stage is vulnerable to treatments."

Assuming that they are in the water column during this "mobile stage," then wouldn't it be beneficial to do large daily water changes to vacuum out some of the parasites?

good question........ and thanxs for all the info so far!!
