I am thinking... Porthole Cichlid (Aequidens family?) and Chocolate Cichlid (no idea of family..)

What the Sci name on these guys?

A LFS here has them listed as some other BS because they are retarded and don't ever know what they have. They have green terrors, labeled as red terrors, because they have more orange in the fins?! They have firemouths labeled as jack dempseys.. Ugh :screwy:

The top one is definitely an aequidens species, probably aequidens metae. It's hard to say for certain as there are so many aequidens species that look very similar.

The second one is definitely a chocolate cichlid, Hypselecara coryphaenoides.

Thanks :)

Due they usually call the top one a Porthole Cichlid, I also was sold one a very long time ago as a 'chocolate' cichlid.. but to an ironic twist to this thread, it was just a bad common name.

the first one is maybe curviceps-related?

the second one is a chocolate cichlid.

The top fish is a Port Cichlid, Aequidens portalegrensis. The second is indeed a Chocolate Cichlid, Hypselecara teporalis.

The first on is surely an Aequidens... Maybe the port acara, A. portalegrensis, or saddle cichlid, A. tetramerus, or something closely related. The second is a Hypselecara, and looks more like an emerald, H. temporalis, than a chocolate, H. coryphaenoides, IMHO. ;)

Best regards.

Daniel.
