I got these two this week at my LFS and an unknown cichlid, I believe them to be freddy who look like they are pairing, they are 5" and 6" each.
Can you please ID them and accurately sex them for me.
Thank You2013-11-23 14.56.46.jpg2013-11-23 14.52.20.jpg

The background cichlid in the first photograph is a P. synspilum. To my eyes the freddys both appear male, but I'm not 100% certain. Perhaps the upper one is female, but it has the look of a male to me.

The one in the background is no doubt a syn. The one in the same pic looks like a male p. loisellie, but not so sure on the 2nd. From what I understand freddies have barring and are more elongated bodied than loisellie.

Good call on the loisellei. If that's the case, both are male.

Thanks. The thing is that the fish in the 2nd pic is much more slender and elongated. That is why I couldn't say it is 100% loisellie, but mine didn't get thicker and rounder until 5-6''.

I was told they get low quality RTM as trades in from a local guy. Could the first pic be a RTM just not red? Ive seen low quality on here listed as gold rtm.

There are two morphs of motaguense the gold/yellow and the red tiger, but those are neither.
