I have what was supposed to be a Green Terror, but I'm not 100% sure that it is. I just want a positive ID on this fish and if it is a terror is it just a low quality one? I got him/her from a local fish store and he/she was the most beat up ripped fins white spots on all the fins and just looked horrible but I think I have done a pretty good job of getting him/her back to a healthier looking fish. I also have what I believe is a JackDempsey, I got from petsmart when I first started keeping and I have had him/her for like 5months or so and haven't seen much growth.

Tank is a 45Tall and I do 2 weekly 50% water changes and have been feeding twice daily with Hikari Cichlid Gold medium pellets. I have a 90gallon I am about to set up once I get money for a stand so they won't be in the 45 much longer.
If someone could try to tell me what sex they are and if they are hybrids or give me a positive ID that would be awesome. I have learned a lot from this site in the past months and am currently working on correcting some of my mistakes. Thanks in advance.

I have kept a bunch of different types of fish and I have had several of them get severely beat up. Each fish prior to the beating was a very good looking fish with excellent coloration, and over all just a pretty fish. After the beating I would quarentine and medicate until it was recovered. I have never lost a fish due to sickness but every fish that got beat up never fully returned to their original beauty. It sounds cheesy but its true. My favorite fish I've ever had was a female JD. She was only 5 inches long but had the best coloring I had ever seen on a female. I wanted to breed her so I got a very attractive male. Hr beat the hell out of her. Tore up her fins and messed her body up bad. The rest of her life she never regained the colors she had before. Your little green terror may never be extremely colorful again but could've had amazing colors, or at least the potential. Maybe someday down the line you should try breeding it. See how the kids look.

Just looked up what golds look like and they look very similar but still a pretty fish. Anyone think mine will start to color up anymore?

I think when most people say gt they are referring to gold saums. Not a lot of people have the true green terror. They are a lot rarer from what I know. But yeah I think the first is a female gold saum. They develop ok color over time but nothing like the males.

This is true and it don't really bother me I just like to know everything i can about the fish i have. I wish the stores would just call them Goldsaum's but I'm sure Green Terror sounds cooler and sells fish.
