The scombs are the ones who tend to die randomly at 12"?

It's the rare upside-down payara. Does best in aquariums with other upside-down fish like the ones you find at petco swimming near the filters. Keep it in tanks where filters run backwards and your lights are at the bottom of the tank.

For what its worth, I've seen other stores selling "vampire tetras" that were 3-5" and they sat in the water with their bodys at a steep angle. Maybe a 55 degree angle or more
These 2 today looked almost horizontal... Like 10-15 degrees
