Ok, so this turned into a two part treatment I need help with.
ID #1: Had him for about 4 months and is about 6 inches. He flipped out and ping ponged around the tank, and now has a bulging eye on one side.
Ok, pulled him out and threw him into the q tank and covered it to keep him calm.
ID#2: Rescued this 8 inch guy Saturday from a store that labeled him as a Bala Shark
. I knew darn well what he was. After listening to the idiot tell me he what it was, I said, no that's an ID, and I just want to know how much it is, as it's not written on the tank". He said to hold on and "lemme check". Another "smart" one came over and said "that's called an ID shark. you know they get kinda big right?" hehe... getting a bit irritated at this point. I said "yep, I know that they can get around 4 ft or bigger, and are skitzy, and have a big bioload, and can crack my tank when they flip out and require a ginormous pond later in life, which he will have when he's bigger with his new friends. I just want to know how much is the ID shark is that you have. The one that's all f***ed up, with the smashed up face, and the broken tail and shredded fins? " He starts stuttering "um.. uh.. $15". Me: "Ok bag him." Him: "Well he won't fit into a bag." Me: ok, well a bucket works to then
"
Got him home and into the q tank, and wanted to cry at how bad he looked. His nose just flapped like it was a second mouth yapping away as he swam, fleshy and white and gaping and his tail rays are all broken like someone folded them over (like a letter). He doesn't have the little dorsal fin that's behind the first one, it looks like it was ripped off. I honestly questioned putting him down, but he swims around like nothing happened, so I figured before I give up, lets try healing him. I have been doing water changes daily, but am not sure what course of action to take.
Both cats are swimming around and doing well. ID#1's eye is less red, and much less swollen, though it's clouded over now. ID#2's nose is looking SO much better, and his fins no longer as red and bloody looking.
What should I do? Someone suggested salt, but what kind? Epsom or aquarium? Or something totally different. I figured since both cats are suffering from physical trauma, I can treat them together. If pics are needed I can post them here in a bit when I get home from work. Thanks for any help
(sorry for the midpost rant btw, I wasn't trying to be rude to them, but it gets old being talked down to just cuz your a chick looking at a fish.)
