Hi, I'm a Channa and a community tank with Endlicheri Bichir, my question is whether this kind of Channa can live peacefully in a community?

This is a Channa Lucius or Parachanna Obscura?

No Channa can live peacefully in a community.. and I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure Lucius and Obscura are a prime example of that.

That's a Channa lucius.

Community tank for Channa is not the way to go if you want to see the fish in all its glory.

Cheers,
Tabby

The problem with keeping it in a community tank is the risk that the channa offers another fish? or not to adapt the channa in community tank?
Ideally, an aquarium with only channas lucius?
tks

I have kept Channa lucius with Clown knifes, Black ghost, Brichirs, Rocket gars, polka dot eel, Nandus nandus and more. Works fine. One of the friendliest snakeheads according to me. But small fish will end up as food.

Hi,

I totally agree !
Friendly but also a bit shy. I have my group still together in one tank, there is a pair amongst the six fish (have bred last year) and they did not even kill the Trichopodus pectoralis that was with them, not even when they were breeding (just a bit chasing).

very interesting species, hunts in groups for fishy prey.

true friends, that Lucius is very shy, I can not get near the aquarium he hides.

Is there anything I can do to improve this feature shy?

Is it safe to keep it together I bichir of the same size?

thank you

Not a good idea

Not a good idea

I agree it's never a good idea to mix channa with other fish, however, I have a 14" lucius with bichirs (ornate, endli, weeksii) all ranging from 10-16". But just because it works for me, doesn't mean it will work for others.
