They look vaguely Texas cichlid-ish but hard to tell from the pics.

I don't know what a very young Texas cichlid looks like but it looks exactly like the baby mayan cichlids I've kept if you live in florida they are very common fish in canals and I've netted entire schools of one inch baby mayan cichlids (200+individuals) in a course of a minute they are very common and I am not suprised that they would be given away for free
