Small intro coming from this thread to i think! What can i say , Great forum guys. Its nice to have finally found a place with other snake-head enthusiasts. Iv been reading through the past week now and thought id join. Iv kept and bred fish the past 8 years , mostly witch were African. Also did the forums for awhile i must say its much more fun being a member of a forum compared to helping run it. This is my first time EVER keeping any sort of predatory fish (sorry not a monster). I ordered Channa bleheri (rainbow) into my lfs, went home and done the usual research to be ready somewhat. I tell ye when it came in and i picked him up (only 1 even though i asked for group) i was unsure. Im almost certain Channa sp Assam (blue rainbow) is what came instead??? At first i was unsure what species it was witch bugged me. I had chose bleheri for both color and size. The "dwarf" species is all i could house and at the time i didnt know what i had, lol i knw some snakeheads out there (not dwarfs) can grow some size. All in all although i only got one trial fish to start with , from the past 8 years this is the fish i love the most:D Its kicked the bug something serious , plans for more on the way and hope to keep this guy a very long time to ;)Well thanks for taking the time to read this , here he is my Channa sp Assam??

Looks like a Channa sp asaim to me. Or as it is now known, Channa andrao :). Beautiful one at that. Glad to see another snakehead lover :D

Very nice!

You are correct, that is the channa formally known as "sp. Assam", "Sp. lal Cheng" , "Blue Rainbow" & "sp. Blue bleheri".

It was officially described in 2013, true species name is now channa andrao !

But that's what you've got, they are an attractive little dwarf species, luckily care is very similar to bleheri, and they are also a dwarf, max size is actually a bit smaller then channa bleheri.

Thanks for the welcome and information lads ;) Great to have a real name for them now to. Iv ordered more bleheri in the same lfs in the hopes of getting more of these. New custom tank in the works to. Ill make a record of it all if things go to plan :D
