oh and by more i mean like is it a type of african cichlid.... are they all the same? do they like special food what kind of area do they live in and by this i mean how should i set up the tank? lots of hideing places ? open ? lots of live plant? thanx :D

I'm not sure exactly what it is

Training myself to identify fisht still

But if its a mbuna, I'd have lots of rocks, some sand and caves

It could be from Lake Malawi, Lake Victoria or Tanganyika

kool thanx

It's a mbuna for sure. I can't tell a definite ID but looks like either a Johanni or a maingano. Looks pretty stressed either way.

mbuna are only in lake Malawi. It means rock dweller, which means as said above they like rock work to hide and live in. They eat veggie matter for the most part, so high quality pellet, low in protein will do just fine. Sand bottom is recommend as well. These are really aggressive fish.

Ya i know i just put him in the tank wen i took the pic poor lil guy or girl .... how can i tell? :D lol

when I first saw that I thought it was a bumblebee cichlid (Pseudotropheus crabro). sometimes their stripes are not pronounced. you will probably see the stripes more after a few days. Im 90% certain because I have seen bumblebees like this and the shape of the mouth and head definetly looks like a pseudotropheus to me.

He looks sad. I hope you're not planning on keeping him in a community tank. Cichlids need to be in tanks with only cichlids, and plecos occasionally. They need hard, and high pH water. And they get big so you'll need a big tank.
