I was at my LFS today and I saw the strangest looking fish. It's been there for a couple of weeks. It's listed as a "Blue Dolphin Shark." What is that? I've googled it and have come up empty handed. It has a tear-drop shaped body with beady little eyes and a mouth that looks like its always open (round mouth). It's blue/gray and about 3-4" long right now. The employee I asked said it uses sonar to find its way around a tank. It eats anything that will fit in its mouth and could double in size in a year. Any ideas?

If you get a chance to stop by there tomorrow, snap a pic. It will help us ID it.

But the description doesn't ring a bell.

no can do without pix

Tear shaped body, beady little eyes, mouth always open... Sounds like a black/blue-ish blood parrot. The thing they say about sonar and doubling size in a year is completely BS... Don't listen to LFS employees.

post pics so we can ID

It sounds as if it may be a Cetopsis coecutiens...I have two of them...they approx. 7 inches long andd eat like pigs.

This is the fish! I almost bought it because it looked kind of pathetic in its tank. It was swimming up the wall in a tank with some bichirs.
