ID . Florida or spotted? THANKS!

Good looking gar. Wish i could help ya. What is the difference between florida and spotted?
 
Looks like a Florida. Where did you get it? If it's from a lfs its 99% Florida. Wild caught from native waters are spotted.

Florida gars are native to Florida. Spotted gars can be found much father north. Even into Canada.

i got him from LFS in NY.. who gets from breeders etc.. i was told its a spotted.. however i cant really be sure. not that it matters.. i am just curious!.. anyone who can ID it , id really appreciate it ( and tell me why its a Florida/spotted) thanks!

You can't ID it by pictures. Florida and spotted look too similar. You can only identify it by DNA testing or by knowing the collection point.
