I don't think it's a true gar, but it was labeled as a Silver Gar. Does anyone what it is and have any info on them?

I think it's also knon as an african gar.. Not a true species of gar.. They dont grow very big and they do better in schools..

hujeta gar, not a true gar, a characin.

Characin... thats what I meant. Not a pike. I know I posted info on this guy here before, just dont remember. If I remember right, they only get to about 10" or so and are very skitish fish.
Look around the gar thread. Someone else posted this fish and I found a web site on the fish. Agreed with not a Gar. Hope this helps

really wow didn't think they had much for teeth or aggression

thats a hujeta/rocket gar/freshwater barracuda again not a gar looks and is often sold as one but is a characin they are said to be the eazyist of the fish sold as freshwater barracuda or some kind of gar or what ever common names are a pain but the eazyist fish to get onto prepared foods still a task but not impossible

they get around 12-14'' in aquariums but know this they can reach 24'' in the wild and i think bigger ones have been reported

they dont really have sharp teeth.
just really persistant lil buggers.
mine werent very skittish.
most of the time just cruise at the surface.
they like current.
heres a pic.
