i found a baby turtle, herping one day. at first it looked to be a yellow belly slider, a common species here, but when it came out of its shell, the yellow marking behind the ear extended and as it extended it became reddish orange. i think it is a hybrid or whatever that would be called of a yellow belly and red eared slider turtle. i am not sure though. (i dont know how to post pictures, if you could tell me that would be great) thanks, any info is greatly apprecieated

If it is a mix of a RES x YBS it would be called an intergrade, not a hybrid since both turtles are actually the same species (Trachemys scripta) but are different subspecies of each other.

that is what it sounds like though. They are quite common in my area. Come to think of it I don't think i have seen a single pure yellowbelly in quite some time...

^^i havent either. this sounds like the only thing it really could be unless its a abnormally bright RES....

oh thanks. i couldnt figure that out before. and for the turtle, ifit is indeed a intergrade, is it worth anything? im not looking to sell it, but i was wondering if its relatively rare.
