ID for blind cave catfish.

I went to a local fish store and saw a catfish that was labeled as being a part of Loricaria and being listed as albino. It had no eyes and was about 5 inches in length. Anyone know anything about this fish? I personally love cave fish and am very interested in learning more about them.

Actually maybe it was just albino and the eyes were just a very light color. I still dont know too much about the genus and would still like to hear some info about them.

Welcome to the MFK! To me, this sounds like a question to the Planet Catfish folks. I'd certainly post it there.

Are the features above the large round recesses not the eyes (not the nostril-looking things but the other)? The one on the right hand side looks like an eye. The other is not clearly visible due to the angle of the photo.

This is a Pterosturisoma...the only species in the genus currently is P. microps. Like TBTB says, I think I can see eyes on it as well, but you'd need a closer look to tell for sure.

Thank you for the replies! And yeah the closer i look at it, it seems to have eyes. Nevertheless, still a very nice fish that i have no seen before.

Yes, it is a very interesting fish. I've never seen one for sale before, let alone an albino.
