Id for Ted

This is ted at ~8 inches. Bought him thinking he was a rainbow cichlid but he grew, changed shape, and lost his stripes. Now I'm kind of lost, some kind of devil midas and something else hybrid is my guess but I really don't know. Any opinions or guesses? Trying to figure out just how big he will get before I go building him an expensive and complicated tank.

Super Red Texas maybe, but with hybrids it's so hard to be certain. It does look like several I've seen though.

Looks like a red Texas. Technically, its only "super" if its very orange or pure red with tons of spangles... But whatever, a red texas is a red Texas is a red Texas. Nice fish though, check out the flowerhorns and other hybrids section and good luck!

Did he look like this when he was smaller?

These are citrinellum (or so i think, right?) that haven't changed color yet. Your fish looks 100% Amphilophus to me.

i was going to say i thought it looked FH X RD something along those lines, will be a nice fish once its grown out
