The first two pictures are alligator gars; the third & fourth pictures are Florida gars.

Ended up getting this one that was listed as spotted gar but I guess it's a Florida gar instead? I can't tell.

Sometimes it's called a spotted florida gar, same thing

genetically spotteds and floridas are differnt fish... but they look almost exactly the same, and have almost the same size, care, ect...

It's a Florida gar. I am fairly certain that few, if any, spotted gars have been exported from the United States, so your odds of getting a spotted gar are extremely slim.

There are ways to tell the two species from each other, but it takes a trained eye to spot the subtle differences. The one surefire way to tell them apart externally can be life-threatening if done incorrectly, so it's recommended that you don't try to do it. Knowing the origin of the gar is really the best indicator for identifying the gar if you don't want to physically examine it and if you're unable to pick up on the differences between the two species.
