Hello everyone in the african section! :)

I just picked up a couple african cichlids from a friend, who unfortunatly had no clue what theire names are.
And me, never having owned any sort of african fish, is clueless also.

Here are a few pics of them.

Hope you can help me out :)

I'm not the best at this but til' the experts ID them here goes-
Pic #1 Nimbochromis definately - cause of the orange on his fins I'd say Nimbochromis Polystigma

Pic #2 Tyrannochromis either Macrostoma or Nigriventer

Both AWESOME! nice pickups.

The first is a Nimbochromis Livingstonii and the second is a Nimbochromis Fuscotaeniatus.

This is really no Tyrannochromis and especially not a Nigriventer.

I would watch out with the Fusco, they can be really aggressive

Thank you Wimmels, after having looked on various descriptions of the Fusco i am pretty sure it is the one that i have got.

It's in with a GT that is twice as beefy as the Fusco, both around 10", and a pair of Salvini's where the male is 8" and the female is 4,5". And a RBP at 1,5" which the Fusco sometimes seems to look at as food, but it never really acts on it *crossing fingers*
I'm keeping him well fed (overfed actually) untill the RBP get's a little more beef to it.

Luckely it's a 2,5 feet tall tank that i have them in, and the piranha just cruises the surface with my asian shooter fish (don't know the latin name, but it's the one that shoots up on insects from underneath the surface) and they get along great.

Fusco's can grow to 25cm and they can be a real handfull. I have kept mine in a 2,5meter 1300 liter aqaurium and sometimes I still had to put him in a seperate tank due to aggression

For now it seems the GT and the salvini's can easely handle him, but i am still going to get some good dither's as a precaution.
I find spreading out aggression is much more effective than increased water volume.
