Thank u duanes. He is over 10" currently, he is 1/2 of a proven pair w a 8-9" female. There is also a slightly smaller subordinate male and numerous smaller offspring of this species. Appreciate the id. All the offspring are colored like females. Do u know if males get their colors as they mature, or do I have all female juveniles by chance? The 2nd pic is Fossorochromis rostratus, a male, and it looks like a female in the background of the 1st pic too.
The males can reach about 12"
Thank you. Male i assume?Second to last looks like Copadichromis borleyi.

Thanks for the info. They do have some cool behaviors for sure. I would probably keep them all if I didn't already have different plans for the tank they are in.Yes males start coloring up at 6" or so.
My pair spawned a number of times too, I found it amazing that she could pack 60 juvies of 1"+ into her mouth.
I put a number of juvies in a tank with pair of Etroplus suratensus that had just recovered from Ick, and they acted as cleaner fish, the Etroplus would "stand" on their tails, and the juvie rostratus would pick off loose tissue.
