I had these ordered by local lfs, they said they were strigata, nut im almost certain they are juvi venezuela. Im still learning my pike identification i appreciate any info i can get from fellow pike lovers.

Doesn't quite look like venezuelans to me, so I'd lean towards strigata, but I'm not 100% sure on that. Nice looking pikes regardless...

Looks like sp. 'venezuela' to me. A lot of the time sp. 'venezuela' is mislabeled or sold as strigata. Getting real strigata can be a pain in the arse to say the least. In the ones I've seen they seem to have a humeral blotch behind the pectoral fin. :)

Thanks for the info! Pikes are my favorite fish next to cats. When they eat they get pink and purple along the edge of there fins, looks awesome!

Everything ive read and pictures i have looked at all the Strigata's have the humeral blotch. These two are about 6-8" range. i bought both of them for 16.00 and i have read in other threads that price can help determine as well, due to scarsity of strigata's.But i guess that really cant be too reliable to make a comparison, considering all lfs will price differently.

They both have a small blotch above the pectoral fin, but i didnt know for sure if that is what i was looking for , for a positive id as a strigata.

I would trust Peanut for an ID, as he's much more experienced than I am, but for some reason they just don't look 100% venezuelan to me...
