[MFM]

Hello everyone! I currently own two of these fish which were given to me as Gymnogeophagus “Rio Yo”. They are around 2-3”, eat anything I drop in the tank and are more aggressive than the Winemilleri they are housed with. I was curious if anyone had any insight on this, as I haven’t kept these before.

Searched through the “Let’s see those eartheaters” sticky and they look to be the Astatheros robertsoni from Central America...

Yes, they are robertsoni. Fairly mellow as far as Central American cichlids go.

I agree with the others, its Cribroheros robersoni.
Here are some I had. They are a Mexican earth eater, no cool down required.

Yup my first thought when I saw the pic was robertsoni as well. Get to about 8-10", behave a lot like a firemouth. Very beautiful fish from CA.
