thanks. do all adults end up with adult photo posted in terms of pattern and color, or are there other variations? google "channa asiatic" and get most that look like this brownish channa with yellow speckles and some that have more blue speckles in them.

what size do the asiatica start to change colour? mines about 3" n its got loads of red on it still.
also what size are they mature enuf to breed?

Mine look very much like the first one Mad ness posted... however they very rapidly switch when excited the dark gets a deep chocolate brown and the light area a VERY pale beige, also if you catch them at night they are quite red/pink... I could snake 3-4 pic's on one fish at different times and you'd swear they are separate color variants...

I believe there are two variants, a red one (in all your pictures) and a black version.
I think the two different side by side Asiaticas in the picture posted above are both the red variant, just one may be more stressed or happy than the other, or just individual color differences.
