So last week I lost my 12"-13" armatus- he was as aggressive as a normal armatus- I didnt realize his aggression was keeping the 2 arowanas(18" and 24" black) off each other(along with some other fish, who also have new found anger) I have my 30" silver in my pond, I could bring him in, I also have 2x 16"-18"gar in the pond, and 3x 10"albino IR sharks- the silvers DE is now noticeably better every day, I was hoping to leave him out there, but I dont think the aros in the 300g will pay enough attention to the gars or sharks- any opinions? whichever we go with will happen tomorrow- thanks all:thumbsup:

aww dude that sucks about the armatus! i'd do the larger aro if i were you. Just in the fact that i think that he would keep the peace in a "i'm bigger than all of you and if you do anything to piss me off i'll eat you" sort of way. where as the gars would go for more of a Italian mafia sort of enforcement which i dont think would work with the blacks because they are bigger than them already.

i'd say the bigger aro may restore the peace...having said that there is still the chance that the bigger aro may go all hitler on them and you may lose some aros...more so if your larger aro has been alone for any length of time...

All you can do is try it out. I usually try to start my new combos or additions when I know I can be home to keep an eye on them for the first few days. Heck, I even slept on the fish room floor the first night when I added the smallest black aro to the 450.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

ouch on the armatus - really want that beast ...

good luck. go with the large silver and see what happens - worse case, you dump all of them in the pond ^^
