My knowledge on the subject is not very good, I am seeking for some confirmation on ID.

I cant really answer your question because i Have yet to own any pirarucu but may i ask where you got it from. was it wild caught?

I'm pretty sure that's just an Arapaima gigas; I don't believe that the other purported species are available in the aquarium trade.

Nice fish regardless the exact species! Do you have these little guys up for sale?
 
You don't seem them on the trade very often because they are rare and expensive and most of them go to Asia. I was very fortunate to acquire a few of them for my collection.

YES these are wild caught. I would appreciate if someone that has one, can please post some pictures for comparison.

what i know is that paimas are mostly black. maybe teal or olive? not like that.
 
very true but based on what I read they are albino and gold as well.

Those are the most rare of all. I could be wrong but there isn't enough documentation about them.
 
maybe u could add to the documentation as u have a specimen at present. :D

As stated on this tread - my knowledge on these creatures is very limited - poor.
