Diadema or metae for sure

I`ve just been doing research and All I can find besides the fact that they look very much the same is the fact that Besides both of them having a black blotch on the cheek, near the tail and a large black line along the side of the boddy with a blotch in the middle, is that A. Metae seems to have more orange coloration mixed in around the black line, and Diadema has very little to no orange.

So based on that observation my guess would be Metae, but unless we can get an expert or ichthyologist who can count fin rays and scale lines in we may never know

The stripe on its cheek doesn't look long enough to be A. metae. If you look at pictures of true A. metae the cheek stripe is quite long.

Pay attention to Chris's (darth pike) posts in my thread here: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?577273-My-quot-Aequidens-metae-quot-part-2

If the black saddle on its back extends into the base of the dorsal fin, it's quite possible that they are A. sp. 'Janero Herrera' which have been available in the last couple years. They are very similar to diadema but found in Peru. Mine have a similar cheek marking to the one in your picture, and they get the blue-green iridescent facial striping.

Otherwise I'd say it's closer to A. diadema.
