Hey this is my New African Tiger fish named "Goliath" but i would like to find out if he is a true goliath or not. he was listed as True goliath ATF in my LPS so I'd definitely like to know for sure. He has the rounded tail fins with the red on the lower section aswell as having a very broad jaw compared to the vittatus he had in the tanks to the right of these bad boys. Sorry about the pictures and the water is green because i just treated for fungus. Let me know thanks! Also Im introducing this little monster to my large tank once hes big enough since he is only about 4" right now. Will he get along with my extremely aggressive 11" Red tail payara whos nearly killed several tankmates and actually accomplished the impaling of a 7" Siamese Tiger Datnoid. All information is appreciated! thanks! Also why is it so hard to get Hydrolycus Armatus in toronto?? like really?

hes got white eyes, I hope i got a true gol, i paid full price... not cheap to get those fish here, its the first ive seen in 4 years now

white eyes = goliath

red eyes = not

There are other ways to tell but at that size this is the easiest for sure

thanks for your comment, merry christmas to you

100% Goliath. I just traded for a 3" one myself and looks just like him. I kept my 10" Goliath with a Redtail Payara when they were both about 6". Got along just fine but its hard to say each fish is different. I'd wait till he's at least 5-6" before putting them together if you say your 11" Payara is extremely aggressive. The Payara may even be bigger by that time too. I have my 3" Goliath separated from my other 10" one in the big tank. I don't think I can put them together until he gets at least 5-6" cause the 10" one eats 3.5" size feeders now plus I have other fish that can eat him too.
