ID my first Earth Eater!

I do not know much about these guys, well cichlids in general, but I have seen them alot lately on the internet and in magazines. This is the first time I have ever seen one in a LFS so I snatched him up. I think he was labeled as a juru...somthing I cant remember. I paid $13. Fair deal?

Yep, jurupari. I saw some for sale in my lfs for 12.99 today. Have seen them as low as like 5-7ish up to 15.

Ok cool thanks guys. Im worried though. I noticed some growth on its fins. Its not ick but it appears like a white almost hard looking somewhat oval shaped growth. There is one growth on its caudal fin and a few on its doral. They are all growing on the same side as well. You can see the one on his caudal fin in the last pic.

What is it?

Maybe fungus or something and yes it is a jurupari.
