Bought as a Florida Gar. About 10" right now, Hoping it doesn't get much more than 24"

Awesome thanks! They had 3 different types of Gar when I went. Glad I didn't end up with a True monster alligator gar

If you have not already you might want to look more into gar appropriate tankmates. Pretty much all the fish with the gar in the pictures are not recommended.

He's been fine so far, this is just his growout tank anyway

I think you have a spotted gar, I have two and they look similar. I think they are less aggressive then the gator gars/enjoy him nice fish

gar like that from LFS are 99% Florida gar!
