I know they need to be in groups but today was the last day of this LFS and he was in sale for 2$ I see some brown dots on him like ich in the bag I upped the temperature of the tank to 84-86 degrees and added salt so if you could id him for ne I would be much obliged

Prolly too soon to tell geos dont develope thier colir till they get larger... I jus got 3 today along wit 4 fm... Nut i got 3 geophagus hecklii i think i spelled that right but they look to be the same size as urs... Ill post when i get home

No place to quarantine him so I upped the temp and added salt and does anyone know what little brown spots mean he only has about 5 ATM and he kinda looks like a satanoperca after researching it

Looks like Satanoperca jurupari judging by the barring between the eyes.
As far as the spotting goes I don't see anything in the pic that would immediately concern me. Some wild fish are imported with a parasite attached to them but it eventually falls off because it cannot complete its life cycle without being consumed by a bird. I would keep an eye on him either way and see if he does not feed or begins to deteriorate.

He is already picking thru the sand so I take that as a good sign and already swimming at the top and all that will keep an eye on him tho

From the picks it's most likely satanoperca leucasticta or satanoperca jurapari. I am leaning more too leucasticta. They do need to be in groups and grow quite large so need room as well. They are actually my favorite fish so good pickup. I have 8 in a 180 and they are amazing.
