ID my new pike cichlid

Wow, That pictures makes it look like the top of its head is clear!

They look like they are Crenicichla sveni. They are in the Saxatilis group of pikes, so they aren't going to get horribly large, maxing around 10" to 12". It'll take them a while to get up there, compared to their larger cousins in the Lugubris group.

It should work out though, for a while anyway. There is potential of the pbass out growing the pikes and eating them. Generally Lugubris group pikes are best kept with pbass.

Keep an eye on the aggression. Crenicichla really don't like each other so much, so until you hopefully get a pair out of them, they may chase and harass each other a good bit. It shouldn't be too bad with three of them, but keep an eye on them to make sure none of them get too beat up.

Congrats! Crenicichla ROCK! :D

crenicichla sveni. looks awesome. be aware that you might start getting some aggression in the future. id just keep an eye on it and you might have to seperate if the aggression gets to bad.

also congrats on the first tank and first pikes. pikes are an awesome fish as you will soon learn.

Yesh, ghost shrimp a good food, but you'll do better getting them onto mysis, other frozen foods, and pellets. The ghost shrimp generally are shipped and sold in poor condition, plus can introduce disease, so its better to stay away from them.

just put 4 dozen guppies in the tank as well as some blood worms for a little appitizer these things are great eaters and soon will be big... im on a big search for 2-3 inch peacock bass to put in the tank before they start getting big
